Machine comparison
Small springs, heavy 3D, cut-to-length, and 5–8 mm parts do not want the same iron. This chart is the ecosystem — typical published use, not a dealer quote. USA Wire Form runs a Numalliance Robomac 214TF in 4–14 mm. We do not sell these machines.

Best = the class of machine shops buy for that work. Good = it will run it. Fair = possible, usually the wrong first buy. Wrong tool = you can force a part on it and you will pay for it. Max size is typical published family max at mild tensile — confirm diameter, tensile, and 2D vs 3D with the OEM or dealer. Model pages: CNC catalog. Fourslide vs CNC: fourslide.

Compression, torsion, and extension from spring wire — usually under 4 mm. Coilers and spring CNC, not a 4–14 mm orbit head.
6 mm / 0.24 in — Coiler class. Small wire, spring-like work.
to 16 mm class — Spring wire. Small FUL cells are under 8 mm; large FUL plates go much heavier.
spring class — Itaya coiler class. Small spring wire, not 4–14 mm frames.
spring class — Spring coiling. Not 4–14 mm frames.
spring / ring class — UK spring and ring equipment. Payoff and ring rollers in the family.
Spatial bends in 8–14 mm (and the 4–14 mm production band). Frames, basket rims, guards. Head orbits the wire.
16 mm / 0.63 in — What we run. Heavy 3D from coil. Production quotes 4–14 mm.
heavy class — Italian heavy former. Confirm diameter vs 4–14 mm.
heavy class — European 3D cell. Heavy frames when the plate says so.
Straighten, feed, shear or saw. Hooks and forms may ride after cutoff. Dedicated CTL or in-line cutoff on a 2D/3D cell.
12 mm / 0.47 in — Planar frames. Cutoff in the program. Not 3D baskets.
by FMU frame — Planar CNC. Cutoff on the table.
confirm diameter — Cut then form. Straight lengths and simple forms.
8 mm / 0.32 in — Planar AIM table. Cutoff in the program. AFM-2D12 published to 8 mm.
confirm diameter — Coil-to-part and tube/wire bend. CTL plus end-form on the line.
The middle of the industrial band: clips, hangers, mid-weight frames. Most 3D CNC families cover it. Fourslide is usually the wrong start.
16 mm / 0.63 in — What we run. Heavy 3D from coil. Production quotes 4–14 mm.
16 mm / 0.63 in — e-Motion to 12 mm. FTX family to 16 mm. Lighter than a TF on 1/2 in.
by BM frame — BMZ is small-wire. BM series steps up. Confirm the plate.
confirm diameter — U.S. 3D CNC. Twin-head for long symmetric parts.
confirm diameter — Japanese 3D CNC. Different HMI than Robomac. Same job class.
Production is the floor list: Robomac 214TF for 4–14 mm 3D, then weld and inspect. We do not coil small springs. We do not cut fourslide cams. Cut-to-length rides on the CNC when the print is a form, not a mill length.
